We got to see and hear...

Jean-Yves Thibaudet....The Pianist who recorded the music for the newest Pride and Prejudice movie. He is fantastic! I'll share more about it later! We're off to go catch the movie, "Miss Potter" which is about part of the life of Beatrix Potter. I'll include one more review of the movie here.

My own review forthcoming...!

Didja get a CD? Can I hear it?

Can't wait to find out about the movie. I have heard good and bad.

I didn't! I couldn't decide, and didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that might turn out to be more modern and atonal. Honestly, I had to take a bathroom break and we ran out of time to go down and wait in line. Then I thought that they might not have had a line for him since he had to go back and play in the second half. We were surprised that he didn't also play the second piece of the second half, therefore we didn't get a chance to give him a proper encore. I decided that I'd rather come home and listen to samples at Amazon before deciding what to buy, instead of making an impulse purchase with which I might not be so happy :-).

Katie,

I *really* enjoyed the movie.
The possible pro-feminist theme is not overdone at all. The "I will never marry" lines that get shared among the two main female caracters are just a coping mechanism or a ruse. I was not offended at all by Beatrix standing up for herself in making a choice of man for marriage, mainly because she was in her mid-thirties at the time and she had her own means of taking care of herself and not being a burden to her parents.

Thanks for the review. It sounds more like a movie I want to go see now.

I went to Amazon and listened to a couple of samples of Thibaudet-- why didn't I think of that in the first place?

I'm thinking his Chopin works would be a nice choice of birthday present for my mother...or an "I'm glad you're home and well, Mom" present, or New Year's Present.

The Duke Ellington selections are impressive, as well!
